Karrie S. Itz-Thompson RD/LD
Karrie graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos with a bachelors of science in Food & Nutrition. She was accepted into a dietetic internship and has successfully completed the registration examination to become a registered dietitian. She is also licensed by the State of Texas.
She is a member of the American Dietetic Association and the dietetic practice group SCAN. SCAN's members are dietitians with an expertise in the role of nutrition in: Sports performance, cardiovascular health, wellness and weight management, and disordered eating prevention and treatment.
Karrie consults with clients for a variety of reasons: diabetes, food allergies, high cholesterol, hypertension, weight management, pregancy, whole family nutrition, general wellness and many more.
Karrie primarily specializes in the treatment of eating disorders and sports nutrition.
She holds a strong belief in the treatment of eating disorders by using a team approach. She works closely with therapist and other disciplines involved in her clients care. She provides nutritional counseling for people with all types of eating disorders, all ages, both male and female.
Karrie offers her years of nutritional and athletic experience along with her personal drive to maximize the practicality and effectiveness of her strategic counseling. She works with athletes of all levels and ages to achieve their personal health and fitness goals.
Karrie provides primarily individual counseling, but also is a very experienced public speaker and group presenter. She is also available to make in home nutrition assessments for an additonal fee. Jolie Jennings MA, LPC
Jolie is a Licensed Professional Counselor educated at the University of Texas in San Antonio. After receiving a Bachelors degree in psychology and a Masters degree in Counseling, Jolie trained and worked at Jewish Family and Children’s Services where she worked with a variety of issues. Jolie also trained and worked at the Eating Disorder Center at San Antonio where she received intensive training in eating disorder treatment.
Jolie has received extensive training in Dialectal Behavior Therapy, which uses a treatment team approach including skills training in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. She also adopts a Relational Cultural Approach to therapy and received training at the Stone Center at Wellesley College.
Jolie also supports a 12-step approach to substance abuse, adopting and integrating the addiction model into much of her work believing that clients require holistic healing physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Jolie has experience with relationship and women’s issues, depressive and anxiety disorders, personality disorders, PTSD and Trauma, and domestic violence. Her specialty remains in the treatment of eating disorders and substance abuse
Eating Disorder experience includes working with milder forms of disordered eating, Binge Eating Disorder, Bulimia Nervosa, Anorexia Nervosa and Obesity. All eating disorder treatment includes a treatment team approach utilizing the services of a physician and a registered dietitian.
